Privacy Policy
Fair Lift LLC ("Fair Lift," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Fair Lift website, mobile application, and related services available through Fairlift.net (collectively, the "Service").
Fair Lift is a community-focused ride-share and food delivery platform designed to facilitate rides between riders and drivers and food deliveries between customers and drivers. Fair Lift does not operate as a traditional transportation company and does not seek to generate profit from the cost of rides. Except for applicable payment-processing costs and a technology fee described in our Terms of Service, amounts paid by riders are intended to be transferred to the driver providing the ride.
We respect your privacy and are committed to collecting and retaining only the information reasonably necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum amount of information reasonably necessary to operate the Service. Depending on how you use Fair Lift, this may include:
Account Information
When you create or maintain an account, we may collect information such as:
- Name
- Email address
- Telephone/mobile phone number
- Account credentials
- Profile information
- Information necessary to identify your account
Ride and Food-Delivery Information
When you request, offer, accept, or complete a ride or a food delivery, we may collect information necessary to facilitate the trip or delivery, including:
- Pickup, drop-off, and destination information
- Ride or delivery date and time
- Ride or order status
- Driver, rider, and customer account information
- Information needed to coordinate the ride or food delivery
- Ride and delivery history
- Transaction and receipt information
Location information is processed to match you with a driver, show the driver's approach, and navigate the trip. During a ride, from the moment the driver confirms pickup until the ride ends or is cancelled, we also record the route travelled by the rider's device and the driver's device (GPS position and time, every few seconds). Before pickup, the rider's position is recorded only if the rider turns on "Share trip". We use these route records to verify fares, review safety and service reports, and prevent fraud. They are kept for up to 400 days and then deleted.
Driver Information
Drivers may be required to provide additional information necessary to participate in the Service, which may include:
- Vehicle information
- Driver's license or other identification information where required
- Proof of automobile insurance
- Information necessary to verify eligibility to participate as a driver
- Information required for payment of amounts owed to the driver
Fair Lift uses Checkr, Inc., a consumer reporting agency, to obtain criminal-history and motor-vehicle reports for driver eligibility. Fair Lift may share the driver's name, contact information, driver's license number and state, and ZIP code with Checkr for that purpose. Fair Lift does not collect or store Social Security numbers or dates of birth for screening; those are entered on Checkr's hosted form. Fair Lift stores screening status, Checkr identifiers, derived eligibility counts, and an audit log of decisions — not full report contents. Drivers may dispute report contents through the Checkr Candidate Portal. Screening records are retained at least one year after the driver relationship ends, and typically through the three-year re-check cycle required for transportation-network-company-style screening.
Fair Lift may verify that a driver has provided evidence of automobile insurance. However, Fair Lift does not independently guarantee or continuously monitor whether a driver's insurance policy remains active, valid, sufficient, or in effect at the exact time of a ride.
Payment Information
Fair Lift uses Stripe and other payment-processing infrastructure as applicable to process payments.
Fair Lift does not directly collect or store your full credit-card number, bank-account credentials, or other complete payment credentials on our own systems when those credentials are processed through Stripe.
Payment information is transmitted to and processed by Stripe in accordance with Stripe's applicable security and privacy practices.
Fair Lift may nevertheless receive limited payment-related information necessary to operate the Service, such as:
- Payment status
- Transaction identifiers
- Amounts paid
- Refund information
- Payment method type
- Information necessary to reconcile transactions and pay drivers
Fair Lift does not have access to your complete payment credentials merely because you use our Service.
For information about Stripe's handling of payment information, please refer to Stripe's applicable privacy and security documentation.

3. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information
Fair Lift does not sell your personal information to third parties.
We do not operate a business based on selling user information, advertising profiles, or personal data.
We may disclose limited information to service providers when doing so is reasonably necessary to operate the Service. These service providers may include providers for:
- Payment processing
- Cloud hosting
- Database and infrastructure services
- Email and SMS delivery
- Authentication
- Security and fraud prevention
- Driver background and driving-record screening (Checkr, Inc.)
- Customer support
- Analytics and technical monitoring
These service providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to provide their services to Fair Lift and are not authorized to use your information for unrelated purposes except as permitted by their agreements with us and applicable law.
4. Information Shared With Other Users
Because Fair Lift facilitates rides and food deliveries between people, certain information may necessarily be shared between riders or customers and drivers.
For example, information necessary to arrange and complete a ride or food delivery may be made available to the applicable rider, customer, or driver.
We strive to limit information shared between users to what is reasonably necessary for the ride or delivery and the safety and functionality of the Service.
Users should understand that information they voluntarily provide to another user during a ride or delivery or through communications associated with a ride or delivery may no longer be under Fair Lift's control.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Information transmitted between your device and our systems may be protected using encryption technologies such as HTTPS/TLS. Sensitive information stored by our systems is protected using appropriate security controls where reasonably applicable.
However, no internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other security incidents will never occur.
If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will take appropriate steps as required by applicable law.
6. Ride History and Receipts
To minimize the amount of personal information retained by Fair Lift, historical ride information and receipts are subject to limited retention.
Ride history and receipts may be emailed to the user and are generally deleted from Fair Lift's systems approximately 17 months after the applicable ride or transaction, except where longer retention is reasonably necessary for:
- Legal or regulatory requirements
- Tax or accounting requirements
- Fraud prevention
- Dispute resolution
- Security investigations
- Enforcement of our agreements
- Establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims
After information is no longer required for these purposes, we seek to securely delete or de-identify it.
7. Account and Other Information Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, satisfy legitimate business and legal requirements, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with applicable law.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, we may delete, anonymize, or de-identify it.
Different categories of information may therefore have different retention periods.
8. Cookies and Technical Information
Fair Lift may use cookies, local storage, device information, IP addresses, logs, and similar technologies when reasonably necessary to:
- Keep users signed in
- Maintain application functionality
- Protect accounts and prevent abuse
- Diagnose technical problems
- Improve performance
- Understand how the Service is being used
We do not use tracking technologies for the purpose of selling your personal information to advertisers.
Where third-party analytics or similar services are used, those services may collect technical information according to their own privacy policies and the configuration of our Service.
9. Location Information
Location information may be necessary for certain Fair Lift features, particularly when arranging or coordinating rides or food deliveries.
Depending on the functionality you use, location information may be used to:
- Determine pickup and destination information
- Match riders, customers, and drivers
- Display relevant ride or food-delivery information
- Facilitate navigation or ride and delivery coordination
- Improve safety and prevent fraud or abuse
- Verify fares and review safety or service reports using the route recorded during a ride
Riders: Fair Lift records your device's GPS position only while a ride is in progress, and before pickup only if you choose to share your trip. We do not record your location while you browse, request a ride, or after the ride ends. Drivers: your location is shared with Fair Lift while you are online, and the route of each trip is recorded from acceptance to drop-off. Ride route records are kept for up to 400 days, are visible only to Fair Lift support staff when reviewing a trip, and are deleted when you delete your account (driver trip records may be retained as required by law). You may be able to control location permissions through your device settings. Disabling location access may prevent certain features of Fair Lift from functioning properly.
10. Communications
Fair Lift may communicate with you by email, telephone, push notification, or SMS when necessary to operate the Service.
These communications may include:
- Ride confirmations
- Food-delivery order confirmations and status updates
- Ride requests
- Food-delivery requests
- Driver, rider, and customer matching information
- Ride and delivery status updates
- Receipts

- Other transactional or service-related communications
Fair Lift does not use transactional SMS messages as a substitute for marketing communications.
For additional information regarding SMS communications, please see our SMS Terms and the SMS program description.
SMS Program and Mobile Numbers
When you provide a mobile telephone number and consent to texts, Fair Lift uses that number to operate the FairLift SMS program: transactional ride, food-delivery, account, and security messages described in the SMS Terms.
We use mobile numbers and related SMS logs only as reasonably necessary to:
- Send opted-in transactional messages (ride and food-delivery updates, receipts, payout notices, verification codes, waitlist launch notices)
- Process HELP, STOP, START, and similar keyword replies
- Record consent, opt-out, timestamps, and message-delivery status
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized use of accounts
Fair Lift does not sell, rent, or trade mobile telephone numbers. We do not share mobile numbers or SMS consent records with third parties for those parties' marketing or advertising. We do not use your number to send promotional or marketing texts.
We may disclose a mobile number to telecommunications, cloud, and messaging providers (including SMS delivery services) solely so they can deliver messages and process opt-out requests on our behalf. Those providers are not authorized to use your number for independent marketing.
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to a Fair Lift text, or by turning off Text messages in the app when available. Reply HELP or email support@fairlift.net for assistance. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
11. Children's Privacy
Fair Lift is not intended for children who are not legally permitted to use the Service.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child when such collection was not permitted, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
12. Third-Party Services
Fair Lift relies on certain third-party providers to operate its technology infrastructure.
These providers may process information on our behalf, including providers for payment processing, hosting, authentication, communications, security, and other technical functions.
Third-party services have their own privacy policies and terms. Fair Lift is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third parties outside our control.
13. Legal Disclosures
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or legal process
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Fair Lift, its users, drivers, riders, or others
- Investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity
- Enforce our Terms of Service
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
- Respond to lawful requests from government authorities
We will seek to limit such disclosures to the information reasonably necessary for the applicable purpose.
14. Business Transfers
If Fair Lift undergoes a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, dissolution, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and any required notices.
15. Your Privacy Choices
You may contact us to request information regarding personal information associated with your account, subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights that include:
- Requesting access to personal information
- Requesting correction of inaccurate information
- Requesting deletion of personal information
- Requesting information about how your personal information is collected and used
- Exercising applicable rights concerning the sale or sharing of personal information
Fair Lift does not sell personal information.
Certain information may nevertheless need to be retained when required or permitted by law, or when reasonably necessary to provide a requested service, maintain security, resolve disputes, or establish or defend legal claims.
California law provides qualifying consumers with various privacy rights, including rights concerning access, deletion, correction, and certain uses of personal information.
16. How to Submit a Privacy Request
To submit a privacy-related request, email support@fairlift.net or use the contact information on fairlift.net.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests in order to protect your information from unauthorized disclosure.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights available to you under applicable law.
17. No Sale of Personal Information
For clarity:
Fair Lift does not sell, rent, or trade user personal information to third parties for monetary consideration or for advertising purposes.
Our business model is based on facilitating ride-share and food delivery rather than monetizing personal information.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our Service, technology, or legal obligations change.
When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Service, by email, or by another reasonable method.
The updated Privacy Policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
